i have never been a creature of habit.
maybe it’s the aquarian free spirit in me that doesn’t like boundaries or limits.
it’s amazing that i even started a blog and come back here from time to time!
but the truth is i want more routine in my life.
especially here in this space.
i envy those bloggers that post almost every day and who have come up with such clever titles and topics for specific days of the week.
i have been thinking about what i want to focus on here.
i have some ideas up my sleeve but would love to know what you would like to see and hear more of from me.
i have wanted to ask this question for a while but have been a bit shy.
but seriously i am so curious.
speak up!
xo

I love your everyday bits and pieces:) Photos and words strung together in whatever manner is flowing that day always makes me happy:) I don’t think you have to have specific “content” to present to have something worthy to give to the world. It is fun sometimes, but I always find it so much more limiting and it (for me) turns into taking photos just for the sake of blogging and complicating posts and making them take much more time and effort to post. What you share always conveys so much of your life and beliefs and simplicity and it’s always done so beautifully and it’s one of the things I love about coming here. I only found your blog in the past 6 months or so and I’ve enjoyed following along so much!
Amy says
thank you so much lillian! your words are so comforting and a good reminder to stay true:)
heather says
i love your home! i like the blog is simple but the pictures are just so great they speak for themselves. i also love seeing the photos from parties and gatherings, and progress on garden. how is the front garden?
Amy says
thanks so much heather. the front garden is slow in progress. i promised myself that this year i would not get caught up and overwhelmed with the big picture but rather just simply start! saving up for a couple pallets of stone to begin that rock wall. you can see some inspiration i have been gathering here http://pinterest.com/amyejohnson/front-hillside-garden/

I love coming here to see your photos…I could look at your pictures all day! You have such an amazing eye to capture simple things in an artistic and interesting way! I love your blog just the way it is! It is unique and special and unlike any others that I read…I hope you never stop taking pictures, and writing from your heart…
Amy says
this warms my heart. thank you!! i love taking photographs and am such a visual person who loves to follow a story through photographs. so glad you enjoy it here:)
Tracey says

I’ve only recently found your blog and it has quickly become one of my favourites. I want to echo the above comments and say that I love it just the way it is. I come to it for your beautiful photos and the snippets about your life and family. Those are the kind of blogs I prefer.
Amy says
thank you kari!
Debby says
I love your pictures, especially outdoors! I live in dry brown Arizona so I just drink up all the colors ๐ Other than that, I really appreciate that you are thoughtful about your family life. I love to see & read about loving families who care about all that is around them. Thanks for your blog, just lovely.
amy says
thanks debbie. my dad lives in nevada and i love to visit and soak in the dessert and the beautiful orange and terracotta.
helen says
I discovered you through tend so am here for the gardening! ๐ I love your garden and would love more about how you fill your beds up so successfully. I am a good vegetable gardener but not a natural flower gardener and my flower beds are so patchy. Any advice on how to achieve the fullness that your garden has would be great. Also plant propagation, because I am on a really tight budget. I also love the glimpses of your work on the vegetable farm – I absolutely adored the film you posted the link to a few weeks back – watched it several times and sent the link to friends. So yes! Gardening! Plus I love everything else you do also. I also love ‘look what I scored thrifting’ posts. Keep up the beautiful work! Helen x
amy says
thanks helen. so glad you visit tend. it starts up a new season today!!! i will continue posting on fridays and will be sure to talk more about filling up garden beds. so glad you enjoyed fridays at the farm and i too love to read about other peoples thrifted finds so stay tuned for some of my recents!
Jennifer says
Yes to all the above. Your blog is wonderful as it is. Thank you for sharing with us!
I especially enjoy watching the beautiful vignettes that you arrange in your home change throughout the seasons.
(I also love seeing bits and pieces of trips to your mom’s house. You both have such beautiful aesthetics.)
amy says
thanks jennifer. my mom is a talented lady:) i love to go visit especially since she only lives 5 minutes away!! i grew up in that house and have fond memories:)
Tava/Yarnmama says
Your home is very inspiring, as is your style. I have noticed that you are planning an addition or remodel in some past posts- it would be fun to see more of that process.
All your photos are great fun to look at. I think all your readers love your blog just as it is. More posting is fine. We will just have more of a good thing ๐
amy says
thanks tava! yes i will be sure to be writing and posting about the new attic project. it’s very exciting for us all and the roof comes off on May 12th!!!
louise hatchard says
oh, more of the same! i love anything to do with growing food – i loved the farm film. more of the beautiful wooden creations. i think our blogs ebb and flow. i wish too i was more consistent but then thats just not me either. thank you for sharing your beautiful life with us. love from new zealand x

Stacie says
I also love your photos and the chickens and the city/farm life….your simple beautiful prose is just nice to escape to. My girls love the pictures of your garden and we have been inspired to one day live on a corner, where dogs stop to say hi….love! ๐ Thank you for letting us glimpse in to your sweet family and world.
amy says
awww thanks stacie that is so sweet about your girls! i hope one day you can find a little house on the corner too:)
Rose says
Not much to add here as everyone else has articulated what I love about your blog. I think the sense of simplicity is what I come for. Somehow your photos manage to be both rich and spare, kind of like your home, uncluttered, intentional and beautiful.
amy says
thanks rose. what a lovely compliment!
anna e says
I love to visit your home in pictures! you have such wonderful taste, your thrift finds are very unique. When you are gone for a while, I miss you!
amy says
this is so sweet. to be missed is an honor!!
Marci says
Your life is very different from mine: the landscape (I’m also from Arizona — beautiful, but in a different way), the pace, your ability to make green things grow ;-)…. I love the simplicity of your surroundings (wicker, wood, plants), your photography, your choice of words to describe your family life. I actually like that you focus on a little bit of everything, so I would say…. continue doing what you’re doing. The best blogs out there are those of people who are genuine and don’t follow a pre-determined format.
amy says
thanks for such thoughtful advice marci. i love your landscape too because it is so different from here. my dad lives in nevada and i am always in awe at the beauty there.
Lisa says
oh i love your blog just the way it is!
Just. Be. You. – your cozy homemaking, thrifty finding, enchanted gardening, backyard chickening, ukelele playing, natural learning, peaceful, beautiful, porch partying, wood creating, pinecone foraging, organic farming self, etc., etc., etc.!
and, thank you, for sharing it all with us.

I love to visit your blog for photos of your home, your food, your garden and life. I like the fact that your home looks like somewhere I could visit and feel comfortable. If I ever get enough courage to start my own blog – I would love it to be like yours. – Another love from New Zealand follower.
amy says
if you ever come to the states come visit me! i’ll make sure you feel right at home:)
Diane Williams says
Your blog is beautiful…your photos, your writing, your family…all of it. I had visited it some time ago, then lost it and was thrilled to find it again.
Your lack of response to comments does bother me. Questions go unanswered, compliments unacknowledged. How about a two-way conversation?
amy says
thanks diane. i sent you an email but also wanted to thank you for encouraging me to respond more to comments. this is really fun! but life is busy sometimes so please know that i never intend to ignore anyone.
regina says
lurker here! i love you home and garden, pictures too!
id love more of whatever you have to offer lol
amy says
thanks regina! more is on it’s way;)
Sarah says
I love seeing your pictures, especially of your home. Simply beautiful. I would love to hear more about your everyday life.
amy says
thanks sarah! every day life can sometimes be the best things to focus on. one day at a time right?
Sarah says
Your pictures are beautiful and I’m inspired by your decorating. I’d love more info about all the ferns and plants you have indoors. How do you pot them? How do you decide where to place them? Do you rotate them? More green thumb tips!
amy says
thanks cuz!! i will be sure to do a post on my house plants. i get lots of comments and questions about them so i think a houseplant post is overdue! you can always come over with that cute little girl of yours and i can show you in person:) xo
Kim says
oh, I love everything about your blog. No matter what you do I am sure I will love it. I love your home, your garden….all of it. ๐

Jo in London says
I love to read and see your thrifty finds, your hens, your garden, your vignettes (you have a gift for them) and your preppy style. In short, I love everything that you write about!
Jo
amy says
oh jo thank you!! yes i do love vignettes don’t i? my friends and family laugh at how often i switch things around. but when i am feeling down or a little stressed vignettes are my therapy!:)
natalie says
i second heather’s comments. amy, i just love your home. i would also love to see photos of things you pick up from thrift stores/flea markets/garage sales (you have such an eye)! i would also love to see little tid bits from your garden & the way you decorate your home for holidays & seasons is so inspiring.
i think you’re doing everything so right. i just love this space. ๐
amy says
thank you sweet nat! you are such an inspiration as well! i will be sure to do a thrifty post soon!
natalie says
p.s. can i just say i love who you are? i do!
amy says
ditto!!!
Alicia P. says
I love your blog, Amy, exactly the way that it is. But I have to admit I that I love it when you talk about your mom’s influence over your decorating style, and share insight into your process, as well as scenes from her home. I like to see how yours is similar but different (and they are both so, so beautiful).
amy says
thank you alicia! coming from you i take your comment as a serious compliment. your blog is beautiful and such a source of inspiration!! i will be sure to post more about my mama and her beautiful home and garden. we have brainstormed together about a book or a joint blog. for now i will incorporate her here more. because yes she is so very beautiful:)
Liss says
I think I’ve only commented once before, but I will add my little thoughts. I check in on your blog about once a month, and there’s always something new, so that is plenty for me! I wouldn’t be sorry to see more posts, though. Your blog helps to open my eyes to the beauty in the mundane and inspire me to bring more moments of beauty into my own home and life. The posts that I most look forward to are the ones that are heavy on the photos of your vignettes and “still-life” creations around your house. Looking forward to seeing your garden changes as spring arrives.

Keep on doing what you are doing ๐
I found this blog last summer and I usually check in every week or two and play catch up on your posts / don’t always comment but love the photos and your house ( I live in a small older bungalow ) and kids pics and whatever! ๐
