it feels so good to be home and in a rhythm again.
after being away for a week and then catching the flu upon our return it took me a little while to feel like me again.
i find myself sprucing up corners and creating new vignettes whenever i am coming back from something.
a fresh start.
we are having friends over for breakfast this morning.
a very large dutch baby, scalloped potatoes, fresh fruit and coffee.
i love the idea of entertaining in the morning. a bit more simple.
and then there is the rest of day to either relax or get things done.
my january list of goals is still in progress.
hannah’s hat is half way finished on the needles.
i am almost finished my january book.
i was walking every single day until i got the flu but am now back to early morning brisk walks.
and my uke has been a little neglected these days but i have plans on picking it up after breakfast today.
so for february…
complete january’s goals
knit norah a hat
prepare for “small-scale gardening” class (more on that later)
spackle and patch kitchen walls in preparation for a march painting party.
make pita bread
i am off to whisk some eggs.
happy weekend my friends. xo

love the bits of green here and there. i think the idea of monthly goals is empowering, but i did make a year-long one to read a book every month. i just finished kristin lavransdatter by sigrid undset a few days ago – i was enthralled, such a vivid telling of the complexity of a woman’s life. i highly recommend it.

I love seeing these corners of your home! I have been sprucing up corners myself. You have so much light running through your house! Beautiful! Glad you are feeling better. The flu is NO fun!

i love the little half-moon shelf in the top photograph- along with all of the other lovely built-ins throughout your home. it must mean so much to live in a home built by your grandfather (i think you mentioned?). you’ve made such a beautiful home and i can’t wait to see what the painting party brings!
