Whenever I look at your garden photos, I feel like I am looking into a sugar Easter egg — I peer into the frame of the photo and try to see *into* it even further, just like I did when I was little and got one of those every spring. I have learned a lot from your garden, I think. I am not a natural gardener in any way — I feel like everything that actually survives in my yard has been hard fought, only there in *spite* of me somehow. Part of it is that when we moved into our house there was absolutely nothing but diseased rhodies and about four inches of bark dust covering every inch of the property — not even any grass. Only weeds growing up through bark dust. Daunting and kind of discouraging — well, we knew absolutely nothing about plants or landscaping. It literally took us about eight years just to get to a blank slate (between time/energy/money). I don’t remember having a bit of fun with it all, either. But it occurs to me that by some sort of photo-osmosis, through yours and others photos this year especially, I am learning, slowly, how to start to do something I’ve always wanted to do, and I feel more confident. I really like watching how your garden evolves from all the different angles. There’s something truly inspiring about seeing, little by little, how a tapestry like that really comes together and becomes . . . itself. I have a long way to go, but I feel like I’m on a good path, and that’s exciting.

I’ve just recently discovered your blog and I am also in love with your garden. It’s wonderful how you manage to make it lush, pretty and also full of edibles. I love the blog post on Tend about maximising your growing space that you wrote a while ago. Thanks for inspiring me so much.
