I have been having a lot of fun crafting these days. Lots of new babies on their way have made it fun to knit things like socks, sweaters, and hats. Hannah has also been having fun finger knitting. She knit herself a scarf in no time at all today. We have also been playing with embroidery. I am a beginner and I find no better way to practice my stitches than on the art work of my children . It brings me such joy to see their work take on a new life and they do too. Together we made a fairy pillow. Hannah drew the fairy, mama embroidered it. Norah helped to sew and stuff the pillow.
I have also been bitten or maybe stung by the sewing bee. I have dibbled and dabbled in the past, and found that I am an impatient sewer. But I decided that my desire to be a good sewer has made me slow down and READ. Yes, read through a whole pattern several times before cutting a piece of fabric. The other day I found myself reading my sewing machine manual from front to back. What a difference it makes to take things slowly. I have to constantly remind myself that I don’t have to finish something on the same day I started it. I am finding though, that if I spend some time each day, even if it is only 15 minutes, doing some sort of craft my day feels complete.
