snuck away to the cabin to sing and play lots of music, romp in the woods, finish a long over due pair of socks, dye some more eggs, and spend time with some wonderful friends. oh and yes papa surprised me with a ukulele!!

Thanks katja!

we had a busy day full of building some new things. a living roof for more edibles now lives on top of the rabbit hutch, perfect for baby greens! we had to scrap the old chicken run due to heavy snow loads this winter. we are building a new run complete with planter boxes for more edibles. can you tell i am trying to cram in as much food as possible into our tiny space. we managed to fit in some grilled cheeses for lunch over the fire and then back to more building. hannah wanted to build a “feel and find box”. her and papa got right to work. the idea is that objects are placed on top of the box in a particular order. the same amount of objects are placed down below where the feel and finder, who cannot see due to the fabric curtain, has to put the objects in the same pattern. fun! and papa found that beautiful piece of wood while scavenging. none of us noticed until i hung it up how much it resembles a goose. it now lives above our coop. hope you all had a productive weekend, with some rest mixed in too.

some recent thrifting finds. i love when things can be both beautiful and useful. i don’t think I could ever have enough of those cork top, glass containers for storing all sorts of things and the basket scoop is perfect for yard debris.

we dyed eggs today with purple cabbage, tumeric, and onion skins. we wrapped the onion skins around the eggs with cheese cloth. i loved the mottled look of all of the colors.
