yesterday i had one of those freak out moments when the three of us were standing in the changing room.
i stood there for a moment looking in the mirror and saw how grown up everyone looked (including me).
creating space for beauty & simplicity
the heatwave struck a few days ago and we are retreating to the beach tonight.
we may be able to cross off a few things on the summer manifesto like ride a roller coaster, bike on the boardwalk, swim in the ocean and maybe even crabbing.
the sprinkler is on giving the garden one last drink before i go.
limes and tanqueray, and some farm veggies are packed up along with suits, sandals, sunscreen, a few games and a kite.
i think i’m ready.
:: this morning i drove chris to work. we stopped for coffee. i stayed in the car and as i watched him through the coffee shop window i felt a few butterflies and thought he was the cutest guy in there. i’m smitten.
:: today i wore a navy blue polo shirt. i flipped the collar up and felt like my mom when she was young.
:: we are headed to a friend’s for dinner. i made the black raspberry crumble.

ok so…
i didn’t make the dress this weekend but i did start cutting out the pattern.
i didn’t bake a black raspberry pie but i did gorge on the berries til i felt ill.
i didn’t finish the socks for chris for fathers day bit i did pick him up a vintage screwdriver set with pretty wooden handles at a garage sale.
i didn’t run the media five miler this year but i did have a blast at the after party.
i didn’t write my friday post for tend but i did play in my garden all weekend.
what didn’t you do this weekend?

a few things.
:: strawberry rhubarb crumble. can’t stop making it.
:: this film is inspiring and beautiful. he reminds me of chris.
:: pretty much am in love with this site. the photos are dreamy and i love her blog. i grew up in a family of florists.
::the weather this week is beyond perfect. i want to bottle it up and then pop the cork and breathe it in on those sticky humid days where i don’t feel like me.
:: i am not loving my summer wardrobe. i want to make my own.
i finally admitted that i don’t dress exactly how i truly want to. i want to wear dresses more.
i want to like me in dresses more.
i like this and
this and this.
this is nice too.
:: i am determined to start sewing a dress (or maybe a tunic) this weekend.
:: i am determined to like me in it.
happy friday friends xo

i like the days when chris takes the car to work.
i like being stuck at home with no where to go.
it’s nice that we can walk or bike to town, the market, the library or a friend’s house
but today i think will be a stay at home kind of day.
p.s. in case you are not sick of me sharing the kinfolk dinner i attended, check out some more photos by the talented parker fitzgerald. see if you can find me.
and a beautiful film by andrew and carissa gallo. hint: i am waiting in line for coffee.
i have the best job on earth.
i drive five minutes from home and pull up to a beautiful farm.
and there i am.
greeted by beautiful people who make me laugh and smile all day.
and for breakfast i pick berries.
for lunch i harvest greens.
and i leave with a bag full of veggies for dinner.
sometimes i can’t believe how good life is.

when the girls caught wind that chris and i had written a summer manifesto they wanted in too.
last night as the four of us were lying in bed ready to drift off we began to create a family summer manifesto.
since i am usually the first one asleep this is what i can remember. i’m sure there was more.
