i have always wanted to make a cherry pie.
and i have always wanted to make a cherry pie for my grandfather.
i have heard him several times talk about how much he loves a cherry pie. his mother was an amazing baker.
when my friend called me yesterday to tell me she had found two huge cherry trees dripping with fruit in a field across from her house i knew this was my chance.
the cherries were small but super sweet.
i picked all by my lonesome.
and it was beautiful.
the pie is in the oven and soon i’ll be heading over to surprise my pop.
i think i’ll pick up some vanilla ice cream on the way.

Amy, your blog feels like a deep breath of fresh air and sunshine. Always– but especially days like this one, when it is cold and gloomy in Seattle. Your posts are filled with joy– so inspiring to me!

How lovely to give your pop such a sweet gift! My mouth is watering. I love cherries, but have never had a cherry pie from scratch (only the canned pie filling kind). Unfortunately we are too northern here for cherry trees.
